Southern Gothic Horses

A while back, my folks came to Kentucky for a visit. We took them to an historic house and the woman giving our tour was very southern, UPPER class southern. She wore white gloves (which were probably part of working the gig) but also used phrases that I hadn’t heard since Tennesse Williams was alive. Course I wasn’t alive then either. She described a son of the family as “having very childlike ways.” We weren’t sure if that meant that he had a wonderful imagination, or if he wore diapers. Anyways, I put the phrase in the mouth of one of these goofy horses. Comic character potential…
