After a wonderful day of hiking and wading and some very short swimming in the cold water, we went to a local wine bar. We spotted a bottle of Woodford Reserve on the shelf and said “we are from there!” We returned to this wine bar a few times, and the bartender pulled out the bourbon and said “Vous venez!” or something. I could not respond in French in any understandable way…but we laughed.
There aren’t many non-French visitors to Quiberon; I heard British English once and German once during our stay. I think we became known as “those awkward Americans” but that was totally fine with us. Everyone was very friendly and surprised that we came from so far away.
